The Pestovskoye reservoir is one of the major artificial water bodies in the Moscow Canal system. It was created in 1937 as a result of a multi-purpose hydro-station having been constructed on the river Vyaz. The water surface area is, long, a maximum of wide, and a maximum of deep. Between early November and mid-April it is covered with thick ice.

The reservoir is home to bream, perch, crucian carp, roach, ruff, pike perch, pike, ide, burbot, tench, and cat fish.

The Pestovskoye reservoir is used for ’s water supply, as well as for navigation and recreation. The most picturesque wharves are Pestovo, Lesnoye, Khvoiny Bor, and Tishkovo.
